Lagos BRT workers go on strike over unpaid salaries

Workers of Lagos Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) today embarked on a strike and what could be termed as mini protest over unpaid salaries and other allowances.

The BRT workers who left passengers stranded and waiting at bus stops as early as 6:AM today lamented that they’ve not been paid their June and July wages after the Akinwumi Ambode-led Lagos State government slashed their salary in previous months..

Information reaching Somtoo Okoye suggests that some of the workers’ salaries have been slashed by at least 15 thousand, meaning that drivers who used to receive 60,000/month now go home with 45,000 naira at the end of the month.
