Rose said Mathias thought he killed her, then went ahead and committed suicide on September 7 2016. The couple lived with their children in Asotwe, near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
"I was in the company of other women on our way to farm when my husband, who is a sharp shooter, ambushed and attacked me.Speaking to newsmen, Rose urged women facing domestic violence to open up and walk out without much delay, citing that she escaped death in the hands of her husband by divine intervention.
"The interventions from the women who walked with me at the time was not enough to dissuade Mathias from his intention on that fateful Wednesday.
"He fired and hit me before disappearing into the bush.
"Moments later, while I was being sent to the hospital, news spread that Mathias had committed suicide, few meters away from where he shot me.
"I'm not moved by my husband’s death as the family awaits the Ejisu Police to release the body for burial."
