The Abia State government has released a statement bordering on the arrest of Abia-born blogger Emenike Iroegbu  at his residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom by officials of State Security Services (SSS) today.

Emenike who publishes  Abia Facts Newspaper was allegedly "kidnapped" by SSS agents who gave no reasons for the action and didn't present an arrest warrant.

Press secretary of governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Enyinnaya Apollos, in a statement released after the arrest said that Abia State government was not behind Emenike's predicament.

Apollos said:
"He recently published an article saying the governor buried a 9-year-old in the Government House in Umuahia.

"We are going to request that the SSS should transfer him to us after facing charges in Akwa Ibom.”

"We’re writing to the SSS to send him to Umuahia because we want him to come and prove all these things."
