Gudu LGA, Sokoto has before now, existed without the presence of a secondary school. It is the only LG in the whole of Nigeria without a single secondary school. However, during the weekend, Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, laid the foundation stone for the construction of one which will cost the state N1.2bn.
The school will be a co-educational one, both for boys and girls. We have decided to make it a unity school and will attract students from all parts of Nigeria and neighbouring Niger republic. Students of the school would be taught in both English and French.
"Education is key to success both in this world and in the hereafter. The school is aimed at improving enrolment, retention and completion of students across the state. It is also aimed at improving equal access to education for both boys and girls in the state.
"As the adage goes, as and when you educate a girl, you educate the society but when you educate a boy, you educate only an individual."
