With only 3 matches to go, Enugu Rangers defeated Ikorodu United in Lagos to steer their way to the top of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table and 2 points clear of second-placed Rivers United.

Obinna Nwobodo and Chisom Egbuchulam's first half strikes in the 25th and 38th minutes respectively were enough to hand all three points to Enugu Rangers, although Ikorodu clawed unto a consolation goal via Paul Duke in the second half.
The last time Enugu Rangers won the top division was in 1984 when General Muhammadu Buhari was Nigeria's military ruler. Will history repeat itself now that the former dictator is Nigeria's ruling democratic president?
