The Brazil U-23 men's football team captained by Barcelona star Neymar won their first Olympic football gold medal in history after defeating Germany 5 - 4 on penalties as the scores remained 1 - 1 through 120 minutes of play.
Neymar netted the first goal for Brazil in the 27th minute of normal play. His goal was cancelled out by Max Meyer who scored in the 59th minute for Germany. Both teams didn't see futher luck for the rest of the match as the game had to go into penalties having played 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra time.
24-year-old Neymar then stepped up and scored the decisive final kick of the shootout handing the gold medal to his highly underrated Brazilian side who were tipped below Germany as favourites for the gold medal.
